5. Study with Yonsei Students!

We will be offering the opportunity for the students to pursue their academic interests through Yonsei University’s regular Winter Session (planned to be held from December 28th. to January 19th.). Although there are various courses offered during the Winter Session (140 courses offered last year), please note that most of the courses will be taught in Korean.

1) Course Format

At this point, the Winter Session teaching method has not been yet decided. However, courses will move online if necessary depending on the COVID-19. Please understand that we are not able to give you a concrete answer regarding the course teaching method at this point. We will do our best to keep you updated with the most recent information.

2) Course List

The course list for the Winter Session will be available around late October due to the Fall semester’s academic schedule. Meanwhile, students are able to check the previous courses for their references (Link: https://winter.yonsei.ac.kr/main/board.asp?cmid=m05_01&mid=m05_01&act=view&bid=4&page=1&idx=121&ddx=0&sdx=0&keyword=).

3) How to apply

Just apply through the WAY application page. If you wish to take the Yonsei Winter Session course, please choose the option including the Yonsei Winter Session on the application page.
Later, you will have to register the course(s) during the course registration period.

6. VISA and Self-quarantine

1) At the moment most visa-waive agreements are on hold (except U.S.A as of August 25, 2020). Therefore, you need to apply for a D-2-8 Visa if you are planning to take an offline course.

VISA documents will not be issued for students who are taking only online courses. Therefore, please note that if the Yonsei Winter Session decides to move online, your VISA can be canceled.

Check the most recent Korean Immigration Service policies:

2) Self-quarantine (this may change depending on the government policy)

The Government of the Republic of Korea has decided to implement mandatory quarantine to all travelers entering Korea from abroad, regardless of nationality, in an effort to prevent the further inflow of COVID-19. Students must finish 14-day quarantine by December 27th at the latest.

Students are not allowed to do a self-quarantine on our on-campus housing as there will students staying at the dorm at that moment. Also, as students with D-2-8 Visa are not classified as a short-term VISA holder, government facilities are not available as well (150,000 KRW per day). Therefore, students will need to find a place for themselves where they can do a 14-day quarantine.

How/Where to self-quarantine?

- You must ensure no one else enters or stays at the place you are self-quarantining

- Your place of self-quarantine is appropriately set up so you do not have contact with others (Sharing a commonplace/area is not allowed)

- You must stay at a suitable place and not leave unless you need to seek urgent medical care

Students will have to search for an Airbnb or other facilities that meet the criteria above and provides self-quarantine. Please note that you need to find a place that allows a self-quarantine.
